Karina Fuentes-Bustillos
PhD candidate

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Earth Sciences at CICESE, working in the Tectonophysics and Heat Flow Laboratory. Throughout my early career, I have focused on studying the thermal effects of magmatic intrusions in rift sedimentary basins. To address this topic, I have been developing thermal and petrophysical models by integrating marine heat flow measurements and evaluating their effects on sediments based on geological and geophysical data. Additionally, I participated in acquiring direct marine heat flow measurements. These experiences allowed me to explore the role of heat flow in different tectonic environments and reinforced my interest in understanding its significance in the dynamic behavior of the Earth’s crust.
