I am a marine biologist, an Assistant Professor working at the Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture at the University of Zadar, Croatia where I teach at the Underwater Science and Technology undergraduate programme and Sustainable Management of Aquatic Ecosystems graduate programme. I'm also a Vice president of the European Marine Science Educators Association and a coordinator of the regional EMSEA Mediterranean group, EMSEA – Med. I've been working on ocean literacy (OL) since 2015 and my OL work is focused on advancing OL in the Mediterranean basin, development of the Mediterranean Sea Literacy, focusing on the role of Ocean Literacy in sustainable management of the Mediterranean Sea ecosystems and resources, as well as importance of OL in education at different educational levels. My research interests are marine environmental knowledge, marine litter and blue carbon in seagrass.
