Susan Haynes is an Education Program Manager for NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research, contracting through Collabralink Technologies LLC. Susan’s work includes providing Ocean Exploration teacher professional development in cooperation with 15 national U.S. Education Alliance Partners and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. OER currently focuses a significant portion of their education programming on the expeditions associated with the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer, America’s first and only Federal ship of exploration. Prior to arriving at NOAA OER in 2008, Susan directed the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership (CORE division) in Washington, D.C. and worked as an Education Specialist for Virginia Sea Grant at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. She has also been an Education Specialist at Oregon Coast Aquarium and National Aquarium in Baltimore. Susan has dedicated her career to engaging marine scientists in student and teacher education and to sharing the value and excitement of ocean science and exploration with all ages.
