Summer School on Ecosystem Regeneration & Ocean Literacy – Call for applications open!
The Call for Applications for the Summer School on Ecosystem Regeneration & Ocean Literacy is now open.
The Summer School on Ecosystem Regeneration & Ocean Literacy, now in its second edition, was developed within the Save the Wave project, born in 2021 as a collaboration between IOC/UNESCO, E.ON and the University of Bari with the aim of restoring and conserving marine ecosystems damaged by anthropogenic impact and the climate crisis. The Summer School targets young professionals, with the aim of training a new generation of sea guardians and explorers. It involves prominent experts and provides an opportunity to engage the local community and tourists through the organization of public events.
This year, the Summer School will take place on 24-28 June 2024 and is open to a more international audience through the selection of 15 young professionals who will be trained both technically and in terms of communication and scientific storytelling on the importance of protecting its ecosystems. The deadline for applications is May 17, 2024.
Who can apply?
- Youths from EU and non-EU countries of the Mediterranean region who are enrolled in Masters and PhD Programmes in the field of marine science, conservation, marine biology or similar.
- Early career professionals in the same fields.
What participants will learn:
- How to effectively work on conservation, restoration and monitoring of seagrass meadows and other coastal ecosystems
- How to develop effective science communication and storytelling contents
- To engage and interact with local institutions and stakeholders
- To become familiar with the objectives and actions of the UN Ocean Decade
