Background & objectives
Within the framework of the EU4Ocean Coalition agreement, UNESCO-IOC is organizing a series of three dedicated international webinars targeting all EU Sea Basins. These webinars will serve as informative sessions to gather insights, identify needs, and engage the respective sea basin communities in preparation for the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3).
The webinars aim to:
- Promote ocean literacy and publicize the Coalition’s work in each Sea Basin.
- Expand EU4Ocean membership by attracting EU organizations that have yet to join.
- Strengthen international cooperation by involving stakeholders from non-EU UN Member States that share these sea basins.
- Foster joint initiatives in the identified regions.
- Promote EU4Ocean’s call for collective action.
- Bring cities on board with the #MakeEUBlue: cities in action campaign.
Each webinar will focus on a specific thematic area relevant to the respective sea basin:
-
Atlantic Ocean & North Sea/Baltic Sea – Sustainable Fishing & Energy (9:30-10:30 CET)
-
Arctic Ocean – Climate Change (11:00-12:00 CET)
-
Black Sea and the Mediterranean – Culture and Tourism (12:30-13:3o CET)
Please register for each webinar separately using the links above.
Format & target audience
- Format: 3 online webinars (on Zoom platform), each lasting 1 hour, with 30-minute breaks in between.
- Target audience: Different stakeholders including policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, NGOs, and EU organizations engaged in ocean sustainability.
