Coastal cities and climate change adaptation

How can coastal cities adapt to climate change while strengthening their connection with the ocean? Organized within the Ocean Decade Coordination Office (DCO) on Challenge 10 and hosted by the UNESCO-IOC Ocean Literacy Project Office, this first episode of the Connecting People and Ocean webinar series explored pathways to coastal urban resilience and sustainability. Featuring insights from DCO members Timothy Beatley and Michael Palmgren and parallel break-out sessions for in-depth discussions among participants, the webinar provided key messages for the first Ocean Decade International Coastal Cities Conference which is being held in Qingdao, China on February 26-27, 2025.
