María Fernanda Bayo
Master student, Oviedo, Asturias, España
My name is Fernanda Bayo. I am from Mexico. I got my BS in Hydrobiology from the Autonomus Metropolitan University in Mexico City. I am a lifelong learner, and I love to share what I learn with others. I am enchanted with seeing the realization dawn on someone’s face when they have come to understand a challenging concept! With the ocean being one of my biggest passions, I find it natural to pursue a way of communicating ocean research that is engaging and easy-to-understand. I enjoy learning how typically "dry" scientific results can be communicated to a wide audience in a creative, efficient, inspiring and fun way! I think this is essential to increase public awareness and engagement with ocean research. This will help convey the message that we are all on the same “research vessel”, and that -in many ways- our present and future well-being is intimately tied to our ocean. I am currently studying in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Program IMBRSea on a scholarship. My study focuses on Marine Spatial Planning, Marine Education, and Ocean Literacy. My interests are pedagogy, e-learning, teacher training, and immersive education applied to increase ocean literacy, particularly in inland countries.
