Description

EN: To raise awareness of the ocean’s influence on us and how we, in turn, influence the ocean, through educational, pedagogical, and recreational activities. We carry out activities in schools, in the field, and in institutions that support us in achieving the objectives of the Blue Schools.

History of success

EN: Most of the Blue Schools in Venezuela emerged from the Ecological Caravan Project, a train-the-trainer initiative that introduces participants to the concept of environmental “seedlings” (semillitas ambientales). These schools are mostly located along the Venezuelan coast, including two in La Guaira State, one in the Los Roques Archipelago, and one in the Valle Seco area of Anzoátegui State.

All these schools share the objective of highlighting the wonders found along the Venezuelan coast, exploring how we benefit from the vast Caribbean Sea, and understanding how we, in turn, influence the transformation of the ocean.

One of the most beautiful experiences since the launch of the Blue Schools programme has been witnessing the enthusiasm and openness of the children when we talk to them about how we can understand and see their communities through the ocean. They, in turn, share their realities, experiences, and love for the marine world with us.
