Misión Tiburón has been working on marine education projects for the past 15 years. Starting in 2021, educational programs in schools, based on the principles of UNESCO's Oceanic Culture, have been implemented with the aim of promoting understanding and awareness of the ocean's importance for human well-being and planetary health. Since then more than 8000 students have been involved in the educational programmes.
The Blue Schools initiative in Costa Rica has been promoted since 2025. The educational programme has been implemented in schools in the canton of Golfito, and workshops focused on teachers have been conducted to strengthen their knowledge and tools related to Oceanic Culture. This year, more than 700 students, 66 teachers, and 6 schools in the canton of Golfito have been involved, and 3 schools have so far been certified.
