Daria Ezgeta Balic

My research focuses mainly on the different aspects of biology and ecology of marine bivalves that include: age and growth, reproduction, feeding physiology and possibilities of introducing new bivalve species in aquaculture. Recently, I started extending my research to marine trophic ecology and demersal fisheries.

Parallel to my scientific work I spent a lot of my work and free time on science popularisation among kids and youngsters. In collaboration with kindergarten Rusulica from Split I published an educational picture book for kids. Currently, I am a PI of the project “Future Sea” which aims to raise awareness about the importance of the ocean for life on Earth and increase ocean literacy among school-aged children mostly in the inland and rural area of Croatia.
