The Blue Thread is an initiative to promote virtuous examples of ocean stewardship, recognizing and celebrating individuals, organizations, and businesses committed to the principles of the Venice Declaration for Ocean Literacy in Action, launched at the the Ocean Literacy World Conference in Venice in June 2024. Led by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, the conference was one of the first initiatives of the Coordination office for Connecting People and Ocean of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030.
By joining the Blue Thread network, members showcase their dedication to sustainable ocean practices and contribute to a global movement for ocean health, equity, and innovative solutions to global challenges.
