He is an avid diver with a great interest in coral reefs and has a deep interest in understanding the ecology of the reef. He holds a Doctor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Sciences from the University of the Ryukyus (2020), a Master of Science degree in Marine Science from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (2015), and a Bachelor's degree with Honors from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (2012).

Dr. Wee expertise lies in Biodiversity (Zoantharian taxonomy, Symbiosis diversity) and Marine Sciences (Coral Reef Ecology). His research interests include coral reef ecology, phylogenetics of symbiosis, and biodiversity. He has involved in multiple international collaboration research on topics such as the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems in Southeast Asian seas, adaptation and evolution of coral reefs organisms with their symbiotic organisms, and coral health status assessment in Malaysia Islands.

He hopes to collate empirical data from archived databases to predict and validate the effect of climate change on marine ecosystems. He uses established methods with open-sourced tools (R and Python) to conduct his analysis, which is accessible to the public. He is ready to assist in analyzing climate change and biodiversity data.
