After working for about 20 years at the ARTS – EDUCATION – SUSTAINABILITY interaction in the artistic and the academic environments, as well as in NGOs, private companies and governmental bodies, in 2017 Patricia founds ACQUA MATER and places the WATER & the OCEAN at the center of all her activities. Through her lectures, texts and the various multi-disciplinary projects she coordinates, she promotes the construction of a New Water Culture, the synergy between SDG 6 and SDG 14, Ocean Literacy in the context of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. She holds a Mater Degree in Performing Arts from the University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and a Bachelor’s degree in “Drama, Arts and Music Studies” from the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Heritage of the University of Bologna (Italy). Since the year 2002, she runs a research on our Marine Memories and on the Memories of the Water. She’s also a Water & Ocean Reconnection Experiences Facilitator, which is the result of her practices with freediving and aquatic dances, meditations and therapies. She’s also: Strategic Communication Advisor at YOUNGO Ocean’s Voice (UNFCCC); Mentor at Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) and Waterlution; Brazilian Coordinator of Latin America Marine Educators Association (RELATO); Ocean Literacy Advisor at Mermaid Federation International (MFI), “ImPact Professional” at the UN Brazilian Global Compact Network. Acqua Mater is also a signatory of the UN Global Compact.
