Rear admiral ITN retired, since 2015 directs OCEAN4FUTURE (www.ocean4future.org), an online portal dedicated to OCEAN CULTURE. In 2019 he was awarded with the Gold Trident by the International Academy of Underwater and Marine Sciences with the following motivation: "Brilliant officer of the Italian Navy, in possession of uncommon scientific knowledge in the oceanographic and underwater field, for the extraordinary and continuous commitment in the dissemination of culture, knowledge and protection of the oceans." He is an avid diver since 50 years, exploring most of the ocean and seas and a lecturer in universities and associations
